Elections are the cornerstone of Newman Students’ Union, ensuring that our organisation remains truly democratic and student-led in every aspect of its work.
Elections are the most directly overt way you can use your student voice to push effective change in and around the university. whether as a candidate, voter, or campaigner, by engaging in the elction process you are endorsing and advancing a set of manifesto goals that you would like to see implemented.
Elected students will sit on Student Council and collectively work to represent all student needs at Newman. Through their campaigning and work on projects and initiatives they translate your ideas and needs into positive action within the University and the wider community.
At Newman we offer students the opportunity to choose from 12 different officer roles, 2 being full-time paid members of staff (President/Vice-President). However, we do not always have a candidate for each role, in which case the position goes vacant for some time until a by-election is called. Find out more: "What Is A By-Election"
