Each of Birmingham Newman University’s four Schools have one Student School Representative who is responsible with representing their peers at the School level, working closely with Course Reps, the Academic Affairs Officer, University Staff, and Students' Union staff to help improve the student experience for current and future students within their school.
They are also full members of Student Council, where they will discuss wider academic trends and work on larger student campaigns. Use the contacts below to reach your School Reps.

School of Nursing & Allied Health
"Hi all, my name is Penelope, your School Rep for Nursing & Allied Health, and MSc Mental Health Nursing student, I am passionate about ensuring every student, regardless of their background, reaches their potential through feeling heard, supported, and part of the student community. I will use my background in psychology, wellbeing support, and art therapy to host free 1-2-1 wellbeing sessions for students who need support with stress, studying, career guidance, or just a friendly face. My door is always open! I will also liaise closely with Newman Nursing Society as their current Welfare Officer. I am excited to also collaborate with staff to start a monthly newsletter to share inspiring stories, career tips, wellbeing support, study advice, and main updates/events occurring within the school."
School of Education
"Hi everyone, my name is Chloe, I’m a third-year Primary Education with QTS student, passionate about supporting children and helping them develop a positive attitude towards learning. This year, I’ll be focusing particularly on placements and student wellbeing, as I believe both are important parts of having a successful and enjoyable university experience. I’m looking forward to building on my experiences during placement and developing my confidence and skills as I work towards becoming a teacher. I’m especially passionate about helping to educate children and creating positive learning experiences where every child feels supported, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. I’m excited to represent students this year, listen to their experiences and help make sure their voices are heard."

"Hi, I’m Tanja, and I’m currently studying Accounting and Finance. I’m really excited to be your School Rep for Business and Law. I completed a Foundation Year before progressing onto my degree, so I understand how overwhelming university can feel at times, particularly when balancing studies, family life and other responsibilities. As your School Rep, my main aim is to listen to students making sure their voices are heard and communicated clearly to staff. I want to create a positive link between students, staff, and myself, raising concerns as well as sharing ideas and feedback when they are brought to me. I will use my experience as a Foundation Year mentor to help students feel confident and supported in getting more involved with university life. Most importantly, I want students to know that their opinions matter. I want to be approachable, supportive and someone students can trust to listen to their concerns and represent them fairly."

"Hi everyone, I’m Angel Anderson, the School Representative for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. I’m a first-year student studying Counselling Studies and Working with Children, Young People and Families. I’m passionate about ensuring every student feels heard, supported, and valued. I act as a link between students and the university by raising concerns, sharing feedback, and helping improve communication. My aim is to encourage student engagement and contribute to a more inclusive, supportive, and positive university experience for everyone."
