Some really positive news from this year’s National Student Survey results. Newman Students’ Union has seen another year of progress, with our NSS score increasing by a further 3.5% to 86.6%, placing us:

#2 Students’ Union in the UK
#1 in the Midlands
#1 in the Cathedrals Group

Alongside this, Birmingham Newman University achieved #1 ranking for Overall Student Satisfaction.

While rankings are always pleasing to see, what matters most is what sits behind them: students who feel listened to, represented and supported throughout their university experience. These results reflect the work of many people over a sustained period. Our elected officers, staff team, course representatives, trustees, university colleagues and, most importantly, the students who continue to share their experiences and ideas have all played a part. We're particularly proud of the progress we’ve made in strengthening student voice over recent years, from expanding representation structures and developing new feedback mechanisms to creating more opportunities for students to shape their experience.

There is always more to do, and these results provide encouragement rather than a destination. This week we have welcomed two new members of staff to the Union team, and we are really excited about the ideas, energy and capacity they will bring as we continue to develop our services and create even more opportunities for students to shape their experience at Newman.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success and to the students who place their trust in us to represent their voice.
