About Us
Welcome to the Newman Psychology Society - a dynamic, student-led community dedicated to enriching the academic, professional, and personal lives of psychology students at Newman University.
Our society is built on three core pillars: community, development, and awareness. We strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where students can collaborate, learn from one another, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Whether you're in your first year or final year, we aim to be a space where you feel connected, inspired, and empowered.
We are passionate about promoting greater understanding and open conversation around mental health and wellbeing. By raising awareness and challenging stigma, we hope to positively impact the university community and encourage students to take care of themselves and others.
To support our members’ professional and academic development, we organise a variety of events throughout the academic year - including skills-based workshops, research discussion panels, and social events! These events are designed to help students explore potential career paths, gain insight into real-world applications of psychology, and prepare for life after university.
Beyond academia, we also recognise the importance of social connection and peer support. Our socials and regular meet-ups offer students the chance to relax, build friendships, and feel part of a close-knit community of people who share similar interests and aspirations.
In addition, we provide opportunities for students to get involved in volunteering, research, and mentoring initiatives - helping to develop valuable skills that are relevant to psychology and the wider helping professions.
Whether you're looking to deepen your understanding of psychology, build your CV, or simply make new friends, the Newman Psychology Society is here to support you every step of the way.
