Dear {firstname},
As we head into a busy few weeks on campus, I wanted to share some important events and opportunities with you:
World Diabetes Day – Awareness Event
Thursday 13th November | 12:00–3:00 PM | Outside the SU
In recognition of World Diabetes Day (14th November), we’re welcoming Diabetes UK to campus. They’ll be outside the SU to chat about all thing's diabetes-related, whether you’re living with diabetes, supporting someone who is, or just want to learn more.
As a parent-carer of a Type 1 Diabetic, I’ve shared a short video about how this impacts our home life. Living with or supporting someone with a lifelong condition can be tough so if you ever need to talk, please drop by. And if this inspires you to raise awareness for a cause close to your heart, let us know how we can support you. To view the video please click here.
SU Self-Care Week: 17th–21st November
Organised by our Campaigns & Communications Officer, Reece, this week is all about looking after your wellbeing:
- Monday: Morning Meditation (Time and room to be confirmed on the SU website)
- Tuesday: Colouring in the SU (available all day)
- Wednesday: International Men’s Day – Cuppa and Chat + Open Badminton Session (details on the SU website)
- Thursday: Group Chat (Time and room to be confirmed)
- Friday: Mental Health Trivia Sheet (available outside the SU)
Housing Clinic
Thursday 20th November | 2:00–3:30 PM | SU
I’ve been working with Citizens UK and a group of student volunteers on a project close to my heart: secure housing. We’re hosting our first ever Housing Clinic to offer signposting advice on:
- Repairs and maintenance
- Temporary accommodation
- Private and social renting
- Any other housing concerns
Come along, grab a cuppa, and let’s help you get the support you need.
Dissertation Participation Fair
Tuesday 25th November | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM | SU
If you’re struggling to get participants for your dissertation, we’re hosting a Dissertation Participation Fair to help you connect with students. If you have ethical approval and want a slot, click here to e-mail a short blurb about your research and how people can get involved.
We’ll also run another fair next semester on Tuesday 27th January.
SU Christmas Grotto – Save the Date
Friday 12th December | Afternoon | On Campus
The countdown to Christmas has begun! We’ll soon open bookings for our SU Christmas Grotto; a chance for the children in your life to meet Santa and see where you study. Keep an eye on the SU website for the booking link.
