Dear {firstname},

I hope you are doing well and having a lovely week 🙂

My name is Danilo and I am the new Student Voice and Communities Coordinator at Newman SU and I am so excited to work with you all! I am the new permanent staff supporting the elected officers in delivering our societies, communities and wellbeing functions.

I have created a survey to collect feedback about societies at Newman SU. We would be really grateful if you could please fill it out honestly - it should take less than a few minutes:

Newman Societies SU Questionnaire – Fill in form

Additionally, we are aware that some students would like to create new societies in time for the Welcome Fair and beginning of term in September - if you would like to create a society or are considering doing so, please contact me by clicking here, who will be happy to have a chat or answer any questions!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at all!

Newman Marrow Volunteering Society

We are looking to set up a Newman Marrow Volunteering Society for the new academic year, part of the wider Anthony Nolan project. Anthony Nolan is a stem cell charity that aims to recruit people to join the stem cell register in order to save the lives of people with blood cancer. Joining the stem cell register takes less than 5 minutes and involves a simple form and cheek swab.

  • Leading the society will involve the following:
  • Leading donor recruitment events in and out of campus to recruit people to join the stem cell register and save lives
  • Attending Marrow conferences and meeting others
  • Raising money for the Anthony Nolan charity (e.g. through bake sales etc)
  • Working with other universities to run events together
  • Running socials and (optional) talks for members
  • Managing and training volunteers

Benefits of joining the committee of this brand-new society includes:

  • Helping to save lives of people all across the world
  • Gaining transferable skills that look amazing on a CV
  • Meeting scientists and volunteers across the UK
  • Learning more about stem cell charities
  • Making new friends
  • And much more!

If you would be interested in leading this society or joining the committee, please reply to this email, or if you have any questions at all, please email by clicking here and I am happy to have a chat of course!

All the best
