Spend a year developing real leadership experience as an Officer Trustee at Birmingham Newman Students’ Union.

Being an Officer Trustee is more than a role — it’s a one-year graduate leadership opportunity.* It’s your chance to build on the skills you’ve developed at Birmingham Newman and turn them into real experience that sets you up for your next step.

As an Officer Trustee, you’ll sit on the Management Board of the number one Students’ Union in the Midlands, gaining first-hand experience in strategy, communications, and organisational leadership. You’ll represent students, influence key decisions, and develop the leadership skills employers value most. Many Officer Trustees go on to careers in senior roles across business, the third sector, and government.

Officer Trustees hold office from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027, with a two-week training programme in July to prepare you for the role.

The position offers a salary of £24,454 and 33 days of paid annual leave. Closing date for nominations is Sunday 15th March at midnight.

* Positions are not limited to those graduating this year. You are able to take up a position during your studies, however you will need to suspend studies for 1 year while you are in post.
