SOCIETIES OFFICER CANDIDATES
HANNAH BARBER
Hannah's Manifesto:
1. Continue the work of the previous Societies Officer
My first pledge is to continue the work of the previous Societies officer by continuing drop-ins with all societies and creating a safe place for all. Societies are meant to be a fun environment and it is a safe place where they can enjoy meeting students from different courses who have common interests. However, sometimes being a committee member of a society can get tedious which can lead to getting burnt out and disinterested. I would like all society members to feel safe and enjoy being a part of societies and for their committee members to enjoy being a part and having fun with their societies as well.
2. An increase in inter-society relationships
My second pledge is to increase inter-society relationships. Many societies have different activities/events that they would like to/plan to do throughout the year so I would like to encourage them to start working together on projects more so that we can become one team and put on activities/events (with the support of the events officer) that staff, students and Alumni enjoy attending.
3. Encourage Alumni to join societies
My third pledge is to encourage Alumni to join societies and increase their engagement within the university. with the support of the Newman University Alumni Association, I would like to encourage Alumni to get involved with societies and show them that they are still an important part of the Newman university family.
