Welcome Festival is our NEW AND IMPROVED Freshers' Week! We realise that the term Freshers' doesn't appeal to all of our students, and can often imply a drinking culture, which is not in touch with all of our students, and definitely not want we want to achieve...
We believe that our welcome events should be for everyone; regardless of background or year of study! This is why we have worked hard this year to include a number of events that you can absolutely attend for FREE!
Below we have the full line-up of events.
Please note that events with a ❤️ next to it denotes that it is a WRISTBAND ONLY event, and you are only likely to gain access by buying the wristband. This is due to capacity of the venue or hire equipment such as headphones.
Any event with a ✍️ next to it denotes that you will be REQUIRED TO SIGN UP via an Event Bright link. The link will be posted below the event. These are on a first come first serve basis.

Q. ARE THERE LIMITED WRISTBANDS AVAILABLE?
A. Yes, due to the number of headphones we have for the Outdoor Cinema and Silent Disco there will be limited tickets available, so hurry and grab yours now!
Q. WHERE DO I COLLECT MY WRISTBAND?
A. A member of Team Relentless will be on Campus on Sunday for you to collect your wristband. Those not collected will be available from the SU Office in the Atrium opposite Starbucks.
Q. WHAT IS THE FULL LINE-UP?
A. The full line-up can be found at the top of the page, or on the poster at the bottom. As always, we recommend liking our Facebook page for all up-to-date information.
Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE OR BREAK MY WRISTBAND?
A. Unfortunately Wristbands are non-replaceable. If you lose your wristband you will not be able to replace it. This is to prevent the transfer of wristbands to other students. If you break yours, we may have spares, but you will need to bring the broken one with you.
Q. I DON'T WANT TO ATTEND AN EVENT, CAN I LEND MY WRISTBAND TO SOMEONE ELSE?
A. This is an absolute no from Team Relentless, NSU and venues. Anyone caught transferring their bands to another student will have them cut off and will NOT receive a refund. This is all part of the terms and conditions of purchase.
Q. WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH COVID RESTRICTIONS?
A. We expect things to be close to "normal" by the time Welcome Festival reaches us, however, when you buy your ticket, you will be expected to adhere to venue policy and government restrictions as per the terms and conditions of purchase. We urge all students to try to ensure that they have had both jabs by the time they arrive at Newman. No refunds shall be given to students who have bought wristbands but have failed to follow government guidelines such as vaccinations.
