RaG & Community Officer: Owen Davies.
Hi, my name is Owen and I am the newest in the line of RAG and Community Officers at Newman’s Student Union. I am in my second year as an English student at Newman after previously doing a foundation year and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience thus far. I wanted to take the opportunity to become a part of the students union to provide support and help in whatever ways I can to help the student populace and the University itself.
My main focuses for the year will be to make the student voice better heard in terms of RAG and Community activities and making sure the people who put the time and effort in get the recognition they deserve. Fun Fact: I have two titanium rods holding surrounding my spine. |

Manifesto
By signing up for this role, I wish to continue the excellent Raise and Give work that has been undertaken by the Student’s Union and work closely with the organisations affiliated with the SU, with the aim of giving all students opportunities to gain valuable insight into the causes we support as a University. As the RaG & Communities Officer, I aim to maintain equal chances for all students to volunteer in charitable causes, either as individuals or with a society, to raise money for extremely worthwhile causes. Students will be able to learn about the work our partners do, as well as the SU, and reflect on how important these causes are to both the Newman and local communities. I will also give students the opportunity to organise fundraisers and promote causes close to their hearts through the support of the Student Union, and volunteering under this will help increase the employability of students by providing a variety of skills that will intrigue an employer, such as teamwork, conversational skills and organisational skills. |
