Leadership and Development - Pathways

We have changed the way that our Leadership and Development Programme works this year- and have introduced Pathways! We've created 5 Pathways that we feel will be of interest to students on the following topics: Business, Personal Development, Teaching, The Third Sector and Finding a Job.

Pathways - what are they and how do I get involved?
Each Pathway consists of 5 Levels - in order to complete a Pathway, all you have to do is complete at least one session at each Level! You can also create your OWN Pathway if you want to- all you need to do is pick 5 sessions, one at each level that you'd like to complete.
Yes, it really is that simple!

Also, you don't have to complete a Pathway if you don't want to- you can just pick a session/s that you're interested in. Essentially, you can engage with as many workshops as you like!

Below you will find the 5 Pathways we've created- as you will see, we've collaborated with over 10 Externals who are experts in their area, who have agreed to deliver their sessions to you for FREE (they would usually cost hundreds of pounds to attend!)
*Please note, some sessions may be subject to change
When will sessions take place?
Where possible, we're trying to run sessions in order of the Levels they appear on the Pathways. So, for example, Level 1 sessions are due to take place in November 2020 and Level 2 sessions are due to take place November/December, whereas Level 5 sessions are likely to take place towards the end of the academic year. HOWEVER - we will be repeating certain sessions throughout the year, based on demand! You can also access all of the session recordings, if you missed out on a session you wanted to attend!

Below you will see all of the Level 1 sessions, with blurbs about what content they will be covering. We will try to record all of our sessions, so that if you cannot make the live session, you can still complete the course in your own time! SCROLL DOWN to find all Level 2 sessions, and the adjacent sign-up form!

As part of The Big Conversation and the Leadership and Development Programme, Newman University and Newman Students' Union are hosting a training and development workshop- 'An insight into Race and Diversity'. The workshop will be led by one of Newman's current students, Nissie-Grace Mbenza.

The training session will see attendees discuss the language of race and diversity as well as explore how to be an effective ally for those who face issues related to race and diversity in their daily lives.

This session is a Level 2 session on the L&D programme. The workshop will be taking place via Zoom on Tuesday 1st December, 12-2pm. Sign up here!

If you would like to attend one or more of our Leadership and Development sessions, please sign up below using your STUDENT or STAFF email address- please be aware that all sessions will be taking place via Zoom for this semester.

IMPORTANT - You will be contacted with the Zoom link for the session approximately 1 hour before the session is due to take place. We ask that you do not share this link with others - this is so that attendees are safe in the call and to avoid any potential 'zoom-bombing' incidences.

If you can't make the date advertised for the session, please notify us below- we will do our best to record all of our sessions so that they can be accessed again, for those who couldn't attend. We may also be able to repeat sessions at alternative times if there is student interest!
