OPPORTUNITIES ASSISTANT (PLACEMENT)
This vacancy is only open to current Newman Students. Second year students looking for a Placement will take preference.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Students would be supervised by the Inclusion and Communities Coordinator. They will work with a number of key stakeholders including, Union Staff members the Vice-President and PT Officers. They will support the team in a range of tasks and responsibilities such as;
The placement volunteer will receive specific training from Union Staff. There will also be opportunities for training to understand how the Charity works and operates, alongside supervision and development of day-to-day office skills.
- Producing design work and content for NSU opportunities such as Events, Campaigns and Societies using software such as Canva and Typeform;
- Minuting and note taking for SU Working Task Group Meetings;
- Updating the Events Log and GANTT Chart;
- Researching Projects and Networking with University and External Stakeholders; and
- Physically/Virtually supporting the delivery of events and campaigns.
The placement volunteer will receive specific training from Union Staff. There will also be opportunities for training to understand how the Charity works and operates, alongside supervision and development of day-to-day office skills.
SKILLS REQUIRED/TO DEVELOP
Successful candidates will needs to demonstrate a basic ability and a willingness to develop further in the following areas:
- Exceptional time management;
- Project management or good organisational skills;
- Excellent teamwork and people skills;
- An eye for design and an ability to learn about the Union’s branding;
- Attention to detail;
- A desire to be pro-active and self-motivated;
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office packages; and
- A willingness to learn other software and online packages such as, but not limited to: Photoshop, Canva, Poster My Wall.
