SOCIETY OF THE MONTH FEBRUARY 2021
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
O mankind, Verily We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. (Translation of Surah al-Hujurat [49:13]). Newman Islamic Society (Newman Isoc) was established successfully in the academic year (2011-2012) The Newman Students' Union Islamic Society aims to provide for the religious needs of Muslims at Newman whilst helping to preserve the practice of faith. We aim to bring together the Muslim community at Newman and promote the awareness of Islam among the University community. Our intention is to create an atmosphere in which brothers and sisters have the opportunity to organise events, set up study circles and create a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood, which our beautiful religion promotes. |
In the past we have had a dedicated committee team who worked very hard to ensure that the constitution was fulfilled and that the aims are constantly kept in mind to facilitate all students at Newman University and not just the Muslim students. We did this by meeting once a week for 1-2 hours to discuss what was happening during that week and to discuss and plan any upcoming events as well as directing any responsibilities equally amongst the committee members.
