EMPLOYABILITY OPPORTUNITIES

"WE PROMISE TO PREPARE YOU FOR LIFE AFTER NEWMAN..."

As part of our Strategic Plan, we make four promises to students; one of them being about how we help you on your journey past Newman and into your future careers. To deliver this promise, we offer many Employability initiatives for you to take part in.

LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (LDP)

Our LDP consists of over 50 different modules, on topics such as: resilience, public speaking, CV writing and application forms, wellbeing, digital skills and much more! The LDP has been structured into 5 Pathways, to help you with your development- the topics of these Pathways are: Business, Personal Development, Teaching, The Third Sector and Finding a Job!

Due to its success since its start-up in 2020, we are now working towards turning this project into a University accredited 10 Credit module!

You can find all of our LDP modules, Pathways, and sign up for sessions here:

ZOOM:IN TALKS

This year, we have collaborated with a variety of externals to bring you Zoom:In talks. These are similar to TedX style sessions, focused on discussing barriers that these individuals may of met in their career paths, and advice that they can provide to students to help them progress. This is also focused on our work around accessibility and inclusion, and our commitment to the University's Widening Participation agenda.

You can find information about upcoming talks by clicking the button below:

VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING

We understand that finding time to volunteer alongside your studies can sometimes be difficult, so Newman Students' Union has made it easy for you by finding Virtual Opportunities that you can take part in right from your personal device! Here, we encourage all students to video blog (vlog) or blog about their volunteering experience to help you reflect on the skills you have developed.

You can find more information about the volunteering opportunities that we have on offer, and how the scheme works, here:

NEXT STEPS CAMPAIGN

In February 2021, NSU ran a Next Steps Campaign in February to help students to identify the variety of opportunities on offer to them, both as a current student and after they graduate, with regards to their employability.

Check out our Next Steps page, where we have shared all of these resources permanently, on aspects such as further study, placement and job opportunities, careers support and how to start your own business!
