Overview of role:
To represent Newman professionally at Open Days, Interview Days, Applicant Visit Days, subject Taster Days, Higher Education Fairs and other events. Upholding the reputation of Newman for high quality Higher Education, accessibility and student support.
Duties include, but not limited too:
· Providing tours of the campus for visitors (often potential students and accompanying visitors, often relatives/friends).
· Helping during the Open Days, Applicant Visits Days, Interview Days and subject Taster Days.
· Giving presentations about student life to potential students and their accompanying visitors.
· Visiting sixth form colleges and schools; staffing a stall to give advice about the courses available at Newman and distinctive features of the University College.
· Answering questions from potential students and accompanying visitors or visiting staff and liaising with the relevant Administrative and/or Academic staff.
· To present a professional image of Newman University College consistently with the brand identity and University College aims and objectives.
· To attend Higher Education Fairs to promote Newman.
· Visiting local schools and colleges to raise the aspirations of students and to encourage them to consider continuing their studies at College or University.
· Acting as a group leader to small groups of pupils during school visits to Newman.
· During Interview Days to help Admissions staff with task room preparation, supervise the tests and test papers collection.
· During Clearing (mid-August) to help Admissions staff with Reception, Fresher Pack distribution and to keep the public areas clean and tidy.
· To carry out any other duties that are within the scope of the spirit of the job description.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
· Must be a current Newman University College student.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Enthusiasm for Newman University College and the course of study.
· Knowledge of the variety of courses Newman has to offer.
· Ability to think on your feet.
· Show initiative.
· Reliable.
· Conscientious.
· Experience of working with a variety of people.
· Punctual.
· Responsible.

Special features
The job description summarises the main duties and accountabilities of the post and is not exclusive. The post holder is required to undertake other duties of similar level of responsibility, as necessary.
It is anticipated that the job description will change over time in accordance with the needs of the University College. The role holder will be consulted on any proposed amendments.
Student Ambassadors will be asked to attend a full training session and sign a code of conduct agreement before being able to work.
All appointments at Newman University College are subject to a probationary period (3 sessions).
The appointment is terminable by two weeks notice on either side.
