COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT (PLACEMENT)
This vacancy is only open to current Newman Students. Second year students looking for a Placement will take preference.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Students would be supervised by the General Manager. They will work with a number of key stakeholders including, Union Staff members the Vice-President, PT Officers and Societies. They will support the team in a range of tasks and responsibilities such as;
The post-holder will receive specific Social media training from an external partner as well as internal website training. There will also be opportunities for training to understand how the Charity works and operates, alongside supervision and development of day-to-day office skills.
- Planning and scheduling of content on Hootsuite (Internal and External Training provided);
- Management of the Events and Activities Calendar;
- Briefing the VP and Inclusions and Communities Coordinator on upcoming events/activities to ensure student opportunities do not clash; and
- Maintaining and Updating the NSU Website.

SKILLS REQUIRED/TO DEVELOP
Successful candidates will needs to demonstrate a basic ability in the following areas:
- Exceptional time management;
- Project management or good organisational skills;
- A basic understanding of the communication needs of different students;
- An eye for design and an ability to learn about the Union’s branding;
- An ability to confidently reach out to a diverse range of students across a variety of mediums;
- A desire to be pro-active and self-motivated;
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office packages; and
- A willingness to learn other software and online packages such as, but not limited to: Photoshop, Canva, Poster My Wall.
