Becoming a Course Rep
Elections for Course Reps happen in the first few weeks of your lectures. An SU representative will conduct the election forCourse Reps, so all you need to do is put your hand up when asking for nominations. If the number of nominations equals approximately 1 per 20 students, a simple 'hands-up' election will be conducted. If nominations are greater than 1 per 20 students, a secret ballot election will be conducted during the lecture.
Why become a Course Rep?
Becoming a Course Rep puts you at the heart of the Newman Community, and gives you the opportunity to meet a variety of different people. As well as this, as a Course Rep you:
- Are accredited for your volunteering time on your HEAR report (which you can show to employers once you leave University)
- Are invited to a variety of different Rep Socials throughout the year, to celebrate all of your hard work!
- Are automatically signed up to the Union's Leadership and Development Programme, which gives you access to lots of different modules that can improve your skills.
- Could be nominated for Course Rep of the Month/Year, and be specially recognised for your contributions!
